How To Set 1600x900 Resolution In Windows 10
I am having the exact problem with my upgrade. This is what was responded in my postal service. I had tried options 1 & 2 already with no success. Method 3, I can't seem to discover a compatible driver to exist able to download. Perchance it can help on yours though:

Method 1:
You may attempt changing the resolution of the Monitor and then cheque for the outcome.

Method 2:
You lot may update the Display driver from Device Director manually and check if this helps.
1. Click on first icon and click on "Device Manager".
2. Expand "Brandish Adaptor".
3. Right click on the video commuter and select "Update Driver Software". Once this is done, restart the reckoner and cheque if the effect persists.
Method iii:
Further, if there no updated drivers available on the estimator manufacturer's website, so trying installing it in compatibility mode. Compatibility style runs the programme using settings from a previous version of Windows.
Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.
a. Download the driver from the manufacturer's website.
b. Right-click on the commuter setup file and click on'properties'.
c. Click on the'compatibility' tab and check the box'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select Windows 8 operating arrangement from the drib downwardly menu and continue with the installation. In one case this is done, restart the estimator and check if the consequence persists.

Information technology wasn't an issue with the monitor. I re-downloaded drivers for my monitor, just it was unnecessary because everything was upward to date, as far equally my monitor was concerned. It wanted to go to 1600x900, and Windows ten simply didn't requite that equally an option. And so there was that whole consequence of regarding my monitor as generic or other. It'south a Samsung, it's inappreciably some generic off make that nobody'southward heard of.
Doesn't thing anyway. It'south been over a week, and all I've gotten was a "it's not us, it'south you" response. So, instead of going around and around with someone who has admittedly no thought what I'm talking almost, while waiting patiently to upgrade to a the latest Os so Microsoft tin can ransack my private data simply because they feel like information technology, I uninstalled and went back to Windows7.

I accept an HP monitor and its telling me its a generic brand as well, and but can't figure out how to get the 1600x900 resolution. Tin can I inquire how you got your Windows 7 back? I am being told that I cannot get it back b/c all the files have been deleted. If my mom has an install disk at that place is no hope for finding it. Hoping I don't have to go equally far as factory reset type fix. Please forgive me for not being quite as up to speed and asking questions, I simply oasis't had much luck or help elsewhere.

I made sure that I had a backup on a external hard drive earlier I did anything. But in any case, the optimum scenario to become dorsum to Windows seven (reinstalling) is to do it from inside thirty days of installing Windows x. Otherwise, there might be an issue.

Howdy , Tpayson101 and other guys having this trouble.
I was also one amid you guys when i get-go updated to windows 10 and after trying all mentioned settings and changes , nothing happened.
Now thing that worked for me was that i downloaded nvidia control console and while installing information technology showd (installing brandish drivers.... something like that ) and after restarting things got normal .
My display was changed to 1600x900 and besides options were added in change resolution settings.

Cheers for your aid. I went out of town and just saw this response.
So the search for the ready begins again. Non being my ain reckoner makes this that much harder. There was no external dorsum up done unfortunately, other than photos and videos etc obviously. The "Go back to Windows 7" selection is what gave me the "files accept been deleted" response. And yes, you were correct, with how much actress stuff this computer had earlier hand a fresh start seemed the right respond. Humph is now the reply!
I once heard a proverb from an old teacher, "The computer is only as smart as the person running information technology." Now I realize he was telling me I was an idiot!

This solution worked for me.
You lot accept to manually download and install your graphic driver from the internet. After upgrading to Windows x, Windows uses their default basic adapter and didn't install your original graphic driver.
*You can look for the name of your driver with dxdiag on Start Menu or with softwares like Speccy.
After installing your graphic commuter, your screen will motorcar readjust to its optimum resolution. Endeavour rebooting if it doesn't.

I know it is a former thread but some people even so face up this problem. So I am going to clear some misconception.
I re-installed my drivers straight from the Samsung website, and now Windows ten regards my monitor as "other".
The problem is not the monitor or Windows ten but it the graphics driver. You don't need to install monitor (Samsung or any other brand) driver just y'all must install GPU (Nvidia/AMD/Intel Hard disk drive graphics) driver based on what you take. Considering information technology is the GPU which is responsible for processing whatever visual content shown on brandish. Without information technology you tin't run graphic intensive programs, play videos or run games and your monitor is recognized equally "generic" or "other".
I then proceeded to run into if it'south a problem with my monitor itself, it claims its running commonly. It recognizes that my resolution is at 1024x768, and recommends the optimal mode be set to 1600x900. Windows10 will not allow me to do that.
Without the graphics driver older Windows testify the resolution at 800x600 and for newer Windows (8 and later) it is 1024x768. Subsequently you install the driver it will support almost any resolution more than 1024x768. Find out what hardware you accept and download drivers for it. If your hardware vendor don't provide Windows 10 drivers then you probably have to stick with older version of Windows or need to buy new graphics hardware.
I have Samsung SMB2030 (1600x900) and AMD Radeon graphics and it worked similar a charm.

I confirm KC'due south contribution. The result nevertheless happens to those migrating to Windows 10.
In my example, the Geforce 9600M GT had been migrated to Windows 10 64 scrap with v341.92 driver emerging. On my HP E201 display I was only getting 1280x1024 resolution offered.
I downloaded & installed the GEForce driver v341.74 and right away 1600 x 900 was offered.

I just had this problem with my crappy onetime hp that has geforce 6150 se nforce 430 integrated graphic and a Compaq s2022a monitor. Subsequently reading this thread i looked at my drivers. Windows had used generic drivers for both. I checked the monitor it had no new drivers. So i check nvidias site and the latest driver they had was for windows 8. So i said what the **** and tried it and walla Fixed!!!
